Rush Limbaugh repeats one of the anti-gay right?s primary talking points on gay marriage, the idiotic claim that it will lead down a slippery slope to normalizing pedophilia, as if there was no difference between them and no possible distinction that will prevent such a thing from happening:

What has happened to gay marriage? It?s become normal ? and in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it?s the most important issue in terms of who they vote for. So don?t pooh-pooh. There?s a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don?t pooh-pooh it. The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don?t let go. [...]
What is their objective? They want us to all think that pedophilia is just another sexual orientation. You know who?s gonna fall right in line is college kids, just like they have on gay marriage, just like they do on all other revolutionary social issues. Their own definition of the cutting edge, civil rights, freedom, understanding, tolerance. So I?m just warning you here. You think it can?t happen. ?Impossible! Don?t be nutso and wacko on us, Rush.?
He never says who ?they? are when talking about ?their? objective. Yes, there are a small number of people who think pedophilia should be normalized and made legal. They?re called NAMBLA. They have absolutely nothing to do with the fight for marriage equality and they have zero credibility with ?the left.? The two issues simply have nothing to do with one another. One is a push for recognition of consensual adult same-sex relationships; the other is a push, by a vanishingly small group of people, for legalizing adult relationships, gay or straight, with children. But the law rightly recognizes that a child cannot consent to such a relationship. Allowing gay adults to get married does not, in any possible way, diminish that. This is simply an attempt to poison the well.
